"Wings of Freedom Tour" Greenville Downtown Airport Oct. 26-28, 2012
The Wings of Freedom Tour will come to the Greenville Downtown
Airport Oct. 26-28, bringing vintage fighter aircraft for a living
history display.The tour will showcase
the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine” WWII Heavy Bomber,
Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” WWII Heavy Bomber and P-51
Mustang fighter. The B-17 is one of only 10 in flying condition in the
United States, and the B-24J and Full Dual Control P-51C Mustang are the
sole remaining examples of their types still flying.
The
Wings of Freedom Tour will be open from noon to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 26, and 9
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 27 and 28. Admission is $12 for adults and $6
for children under 12. World War II veterans can tour the aircraft free.
